Turmeric

Turmeric stimulates neural stem cell proliferation and regeneration. With neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s Disease, neurons in the brain stop communicating with each other. Eventually, these cells weaken and die. Turmeric revitalizes neurons and promotes the creation of new stem cells. Plus, it promotes cell differentiation to allow stem cells to become new neurons. Turmeric’s anti-inflammatories properties facilitate this process. Reducing neural inflammation and stimulating new stem cell production is imperative for people recovering from a stroke or traumatic brain injury, which damages brain cells by cutting off the blood supply.  Additionally, Turmeric’s antioxidants have also been found to reverse the effects of damage caused by pharmaceuticals, particularly antipsychotics. The effects of the motor disorders like tardive dyskinesia were reversed through the use of curcumin. Turmeric is also an anti-depressant.
